Dojo Rules for Training and Safety

1. I will be Courteous and Respectful to everyone in the Dojo. I will ask the Instructor if I have questions about etiquette or protocol in the dojo.

2. In this Martial Art our techniques may cause serious injury. I will carefully follow the Instructor’s direction and teachings.

3.  I will keep my fingernails and toenails trim and short. I will not wear jewelry, piercings or watches while training, nor chew gum on the mat. I will not train under the influence of drugs and alcohol. I will observe good hygiene.

4.  I will observe common sense rules when ill or contagious. I will not come to the dojo if I feel like I am catching a cold or flu or any other contagious illness.

5.  I will use the wooden sword, staff or wooden knife only with the permission of the instructor and under his/her guidance.

6. I will not engage in horseplay and wrestling, nor will I run in the dojo.

7. I will not teach or correct another student unless I receive permission to do so.

8. This dojo is for the practice of Aikido. I will not practice any other martial art, during Aikido class, without the explicit permission of the Instructor.

9. I will listen to and follow the guidance and instruction of the instructor.

10. There are three characteristics of all Aikido techniques:

No Violence

No Injuries

No Resistance

11. I will observe these rules and guidelines in my training and in the dojo.

I may be asked to leave the dojo if I violate these rules.

12.Training Agreement:

We do not hurt others or allow ourselves to get hurt while training.

I am here to learn Aikido…not to compete and resist.

I agree to carefully watch, listen, and adhere to the instructor’s teaching.

I am here to learn, grow and enjoy the lessons along with my fellow students.
