On the second Saturday of every month one of our dojo members steps up and shares their knowledge for a healthier and happier life on and off the mat. The workshops happen from 11:30 am - Noon after Saturday practice and are welcome to all, free of charge.
In July, we’re glad to have Patrick Reynolds spend a half hour showing us the most up to date sports science on warming-up and stretching. It turns out that many of the warm-ups we were taught in P.E. or from old-school teachers are actually counterproductive for performance and injury prevention. As you know, all it takes is one bad moment in class to bring on an injury that sidelines you for weeks. Proper warm-ups and stretching are your first line of defense against sprains, strains, and tears.
Patrick will show us scientifically proven methods for warming up before practice and how to cool down and stretch after. He’ll also teach us the physiology behind which stretch is right for which occasion.
Patrick is the founder of Kenzai, the world’s most effective online fitness platform. With more than 15 years of personal training and over 10,000 clients, Patrick combines science-based techniques with real-world experience for results that last. He’s the author of many articles and fitness plans built around stretching smarter.
Join us for this workshop, and in 30 minutes learn how to protect yourself for the next 30 years of training!
