We’re happy to announce that we’re extending our normal class periods half an hour to allow time for proper jo and bokken practice! A well-rounded aikido student is comfortable with both unarmed physical techniques and traditional weapons. We hope with this new schedule more students will be able to fit weapons training into their repertoire and see new levels of progress.
Here are the changes:
Early morning jo and bokken classes are no longer offered.
Tuesday night class will extend a half hour with the final 30 minutes being weapons practice. (6:30-7:30 regular class, 7:30-8:00 pm weapons class)
Thursday night class will begin a half hour early, with the final 30 minutes being weapons practice. (6:30-7:30 regular class, 7:30-8:00 pm weapons class)
(This means that both Tuesday and Thursday evening classes are finally on the same schedule and much easier to keep straight!)
Saturday morning class will extend a half hour with the final 30 minutes being weapons practice. (10:45-11:45 regular class, 11:45 - 12:45 pm weapons class)
Sunday morning class will have weapons first, so that eligible youth students can join in after their class finishes. Regular class will begin 30 minutes later. (10:30 - 11:00am weapons class, 11:00 - Noon regular class)
Use this new schedule to get more time with the jo and bokken. Understanding these weapons gets to the heart of Aikido and will serve you well both on and off the mat!
